Review: Back to You by Kyra Lennon

Happy release day to Kyra Lennon, and Back To You (Oakwood Lane book 4)!

41eK8I3CgvLShe’s his home. He’s her heart. But when everything breaks… is love enough to hold them together?

After a year of living mostly apart, Nova finally has Donovan back. For the first time in too long, it feels like they might actually get their happy ending.

But joy doesn't last long.

Nova’s instincts as a teacher pull her into something far more dangerous than she ever expected—forcing her to question her safety and her career.

Then tragedy strikes, and everything unravels fast.

Just when she needs him most, Donovan is gone.

Lost in grief, haunted by old fears, and unaware that Nova is facing a threat of her own, Donovan retreats—leaving her to navigate the danger alone, while his own world fractures under the weight of responsibility, guilt, and a business on the brink of launch that needs him.

What was supposed to be Nova and Donovan's fresh start becomes a widening distance neither of them knows how to close.

Love brought them back together once.

But this time… is it enough?

Back To You is a small-town romance set in England (UK). It features deep emotion, high heat levels, and elements of hurt/comfort that will break your heart, then stitch it back together again.

My Review

DISCLAIMER: I beta read this book for the author, but all opinions in this review are my own.

The fourth book in a series—focusing on characters who until now have been supporting cast—is never an easy thing. There are so many ways a book like this could disappoint readers.

But not when the author is Kyra Lennon!

I’ve been looking forward to Nova and Donovan’s story since their novella “Re-Writing Christmas” and this did not disappoint.

As always, Kyra goes all in with the emotions, and there isn’t a slow moment in this story, as  Nova and Donovan go from one heartache to the next.

What I especially love about their story is that both Nova and Donovan have distinct voices, and their POV chapters are different from each other, so you end up feeling both sides of the situation they’re in. Neither is entirely right nor wrong.

Additionally, the intimate scenes are full of heat, and exactly what you’d expect in this type of story—focusing on the emotions that accompany the physical act, and not just the sex itself.

The heartache and drama are nicely balanced with humour, especially with the introduction of a new western-themed bar that has lots of fun cocktail names.

As I’ve come to expect from the Oakwood Lane Series, the supporting cast and the bonds these characters have made with each other really shine. It’s great to see new dynamics being introduced, while background characters come to the fore.

Once again, another 5-star read from Kyra Lennon, and now I am eagerly awaiting the final book in the Oakwood Lane series.
