Clare Dugmore is a queer, neurodivergent storyteller who writes love stories for outsiders.
Her novels span cosy fantasy romance and dark romantasy, but they all share the same heartbeat: characters shaped by false narratives about themselves who discover the truth of who they are through love, community, and belonging. Whether they're witches, vampires, dragons, or students at a magical university, her characters learn that belonging isn't becoming worthy of acceptance—it's realising they were worthy from the very start.
The stories we tell ourselves shape the lives we believe we're allowed to have. Through magic, romance, and found family, Clare writes stories that invite readers to question the lies they've inherited, embrace who they truly are, and remember that, despite everything, they're still themselves.
Clare lives in the West Midlands, UK, with her supportive real-life vampire husband and their two gremlin children.
